Melbourne Leisurefest will celebrate a boom in the popularity of caravanning, boating and four-wheel-driving when it comes to Sandown Racecourse from 6 to 9 October.

With caravan production setting new records, and boats and four-wheel-drives surging in popularity, the entire leisure industry is flocking to Leisurefest.

More space, more brands and more luxury are among the attractions for the fourth Melbourne Leisurefest.

Organised jointly by the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria (CIA), Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIA) and Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), Leisurefest has the latest from all three industries.

CIA chief executive officer Robert Lucas said the success of recent boating, caravan and motor shows promised great things for Leisurefest.

'Going by the extremely strong list of exhibitors already signed up, we are going to have a remarkable offering for show patrons, no matter their area of interest,' he said.

'We have at least six new brands of caravans that haven’t been seen here before, an impressive four-wheel-drive showing led by Isuzu Ute Australia and several top 4WD clubs, and great new boat exhibits headlined by Crawford Marine and Ranger Tugs making their Leisurefest debuts.

'Needless to say, there is a huge array of tents, camping gear, destinations, industry associations, electronics, lighting, safety gear and accessories for just about any purpose imaginable.

'The new Fifth-Wheeler Precinct and Motorhome Precinct will really deliver the luxury RV wow factor, but there is just as much on offer for the budget-conscious camper, plus every price point and lifestyle option in between.'

Back by popular demand are both on-road and off-road vehicle tests at the expansive Sandown venue – and this year there will also be hands-on lessons in reversing vans and trailers.

There will be test towing for caravans and boats down the Sandown main straight, test rides in campers and motor homes, and four-wheel-drive demonstration rides on Sandown’s off-road circuit, all with expert drivers at the wheel to keep it safe.

Ticket prices are the same for the fourth year in a row, with adult entry just $12, pensioner and concession holders $10 and kids under 15 free when accompanied by an adult, and there is plentiful free parking plus a train station is right next door to the venue.
